Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 July 2026
WaterAtlas is an open, non-commercial project currently in an early testing stage. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data the service collects and how it is used. We aim to collect as little as possible.
Who is responsible
WaterAtlas is operated by an individual (see the Legal Notice). For any privacy question or request, contact kaiser.silvio99@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account data — if you register: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Saved searches & alert preferences — the filter criteria you choose to save and whether you opted in to email alerts.
- Essential cookies — a session/authentication cookie so you can stay signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Minimal technical logs — standard server and request logs generated by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
The water-sector project data shown on the map is aggregated from public third-party sources and does not contain your personal data.
Why we use it
Solely to provide the service: to authenticate you, store the searches you asked us to save, send the alerts you opted in to, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers who process data only on our behalf: a hosting/deployment platform, a managed database, and an email delivery provider for alerts. Payment processing is not active during the testing stage.
Retention
We keep account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your saved searches at any time from your account, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.
Your choices
You can access, correct, or delete your data by using your account or by contacting us. You can turn email alerts off at any time. If you believe we hold data about you that should be removed, email kaiser.silvio99@gmail.com and we will act on reasonable requests.
Children
The service is not directed to children and is not intended for use by them.
Changes
As the project is in active development, this policy may change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
